Meet Our Principal

Marjorie Lopez graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s degree in English and Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Prior to becoming a school administrator, Marjorie taught at the elementary level, high school level, and college level as an adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College. In her previous roles, Mrs. Lopez has been recognized by her peers as Teacher of the Year and Mainstreaming Teacher of the Year for her work with special needs students.  She also earned National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and continues to connect professional learning with classroom practice, reminding teachers that their work matters.  In her current role as principal, Mrs. Lopez is inspired by the community at Summerville Advantage Academy which encourages all children to a lifelong love of learning and supports student achievement in a safe and nurturing educational environment.

OUR MISSION

Summerville Advantage Academy exists as an International Learning Environment, which develops adaptive and active learners who embrace the exploration of other cultures as well as their own ancestral heritage through the utilization of art, music, and literature to excel and achieve academic heights.

Summerville Advantage Academy is a Cognia accredited educational institution. Accreditation through Cognia indicates that Summerville Advantage Academy has met rigorous, research- based standards of educational excellence to ensure the education program offered at Summerville Advantage Academy meets the needs of learners through proficiency in Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity, and Resource Capacity. Using these standards, Summerville Advantage Academy targets areas in each domain for continuous improvement in creating student success.
